LIFE IN OUR BOWL

New Orleans is a city created, powered and influenced by the water that surrounds it. Most of the city sits below sea level and is bordered by Lake Pontchartrain to the north and the Mississippi River to the south creating a unique bowl shape in the landscape. This factor combined with a sudden New Orleans rainstorm could cause significant problems.
Even having one of the largest drainage systems in the world isn’t enough to drain our bowl. This is when community collaboration can help; it will take everyone’s cooperation to keep us dry!
Green infrastructure projects around New Orleans are helping keep the city’s storm water moving. It’s simple, “when it rains, I retain, clear my drain and keep it moving.”
Check out some of the steps you can take to keep celebrating and living “LIFE IN OUR BOWL.”
